These heads consist if 2 layers, the inner layer is plastic and the outer layer is thick napa. The inner plastic layer has very tiny holes to allow air movement between the layers. This is normal.
The sound is warm and nice and brings out the lower tones of your drum.
These heads are meant for pagode style playing. Tantans and rebolos.
