This tamborim is made with robust, durable aluminum that is resistant to corrosion. The aluminum is processed in a way that prevents it from corroding and fading so the drum will keep its original silver shine and “look” for longer. The aluminum shell is grooved to save on weight.
Six inches in diameter. Six tuning hooks. Classic size and a classic look.
The drum comes with a green Brazil Flag nylon head giving you that crispy tamborim sound that we are all looking for!
The tuning hooks are made of nickel, and like a West side rapper, the rims are chromed.
Tamborins add a high pitched crispy voice to the bateria. Often described as the icing on the cake. The sound cuts through the cacophony with complicated designs and rhythmic phrases. A tight tamborim section is a magical thing because even the tiniest mistake really stands out!
Tamborims are played with special beaters or “baquetas”.
Go Samba has many hand-made, weighted tipped baquetas. Weighted tipped baquetas are hard to find outside of Brazil. I have purchased these directly from Jorginho for my store. Check them out here.
Jorginho Master baqueta maker and Courtney.
The Timbra factory out of São Paulo is known for making high quality samba instruments. Go Samba is proud to carry this line.
