I’ve been back in Rio for less than a week, and I’m already deep in the quadra action.
A massive thank you to Mestres Guilherme and Gustavo for giving me the green light to capture the Bateria Furiosa up close at Acadêmicos do Salgueiro. It was a convida night hosting my own school, Imperatriz Leopoldinense, which made the energy in the quadra super fun.
I put together about 11 immersive 360° videos from the evening. That's just the Salgueiro portion, there are many more coming from the Imperatriz side soon!
A few big highlights you’ll see in the clips below:
-
The Joint Bateria: They did something I haven’t ever seen before, both baterias played together. After a little bit of a back-and-forth exchange, they both played Salgueiro’s legendary "Peguei um Ita no Norte" (Explode Coração).
-
The 2027 Enredo & Tamborins: A full clip of Salgueiro’s 2027 samba, complete with the tamborim desenho.
-
Esquenta da Bateria & Highlights: Catch the raw warmup energy, plus some footage highlighting a killer terceira player locking down the groove.
I hope you’re enjoying these 360° videos and getting a taste of what it feels like inside the bateria circle.
The countdown is officially on—Renan and I are getting ready for our late-November tour! Our group is locked in, guests are arriving soon, and we’re excited to welcome everyone to Rio.
