The thiner shell on these tarols are nice for playing caixa em cima. "Em cima" is the style of playing where you hold the drum up on your shoulder as seen in Samba schools like Vila Isabel and Salgueiro. Check out the Thalita Santos video with Serrinha Raiz below for more on how to play this style.
The 6 strings and 12" diameter provide a nice crisp but full buzz sound.Â
