This repinique has 8 tuning rods, 2 more than the typical 6. The extra tuning rods distribute the pressure around the rim allowing you to really crank down on the heads and this really cranks up the pitch!

Keep in mind, more tuning rods means less room for your "slap hand" to work. So if you learned on a 6 rod drum you may have to make some adjustments. But don't worry, you got this!

This solid little drum has an aluminum shell. It's so shiny and reflective that you could use it to check for any bats in your cave, or bits of food in your teeth from lunch. 

This drum also works for samba afro/samba reggae styles of course. Just wear it slung low with a waist strap. 

For samba batucada you can use a shoulder strap.
